(Volunteer Work with RV Parking Site and Utllities)
OR: Rumreich Morgan Creek Hatchery, Coos Bay, Oregon. Host-caretaker needed at the Rumreich Morgan Creek fish hatchery on the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast.
Hatchery provides nice RV spot near fish raceway and Morgan Creek. Water, sewer, and electrical hookups provided. Also laundry facilities are on site.
Host duties include greeting visiters and giving tours, grounds maintenance, feeding fish, setup and take down of spawning and fin marking equipment with other volunteers. Work on other projects along with other volunteers.
Fall thru spring are busy times at hatchery with spawning in fall and then raising and releasing salmon fry. During summer months there are no fish at facility so work consists mostly of grounds maintenance.
Morgan Creek Hatchery releases over one million chinook fry per year into Coos Bay. About 450,000 more Morgan Creek fish are released from other sites into Coos Bay. Hatchery is run and operated by volunteers and is overseen by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Morgan Creek is unique in that we involve youth to help in our operations.
A fun position for the right person or couple.
