($$ Summer Work in Wrangell St. Elias National Park)

AK: Wrangell Mountains Wilderness Lodge, Nabesna, Alaska. Rare opportunity to live, work, and play inside America’s largest national park. Spend your days in the foothills of Mt. Sanford, next to Twin and Jack lakes. From fishing, hiking, birding and biking, to meeting happy adventure travelers from around the world, this is the place to soak up the best of Alaska’s incredible summers.

We’re a small, off-the-grid, family-run outfit, located along a well-maintained historic mining road. We are situated next to great fishing and bird-watching lakes, spectacular mountain views, and several unique hiking trails. Our customers come from all over the world to experience the stunning scenery, solitude, wildlife, and unique Alaska history.

We are a family-run establishment seeking help for the upcoming tourist season, May through September. The lodge has four rental cabins, a sauna/wash cabin, an airstrip, and a family-friendly (pub-style) tavern. We make all our power with solar and generator backup, and have a good water well.

Ideally we would like a physically fit, mature, responsible couple who enjoy the great outdoors to help run a small lodge in the Alaska wilderness. Desired skills/experience include working well alone and as part of a team, customer service, housekeeping, yard work, food service, bar tending, and general maintenance/carpentry. Duties may include greeting customers, answering questions in person and over the phone, assisting with check-in/check-out, cleaning cabins and the main lodge, light yard work and garden care, performing minor carpentry repairs, preparing and serving drinks and light meals, using a POS payment system to handle customer transactions.

Compensation is $12/hour, plus water and <20-amp electric hookups in a boreal forest setting, use of lodge washer/dryer, with a flexible 40-hour weekly minimum commitment; HughesNet satellite internet and phone service are also available for a fee. Must be willing to commit for the season (flexible on start/end dates), have references, and pass a background check. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend a summer in one of the world’s most beautiful and serene places, meeting happy travelers and sharing stories.
