Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

I'm glad to report that there's no exciting personal news this week. The Funny River Wildfire, while still burning, is no longer threatening. Life is pretty much back to normal.

If you are headed to Alaska for the summer and want work, you are in luck. "Now Hiring"  signs are posted all over town. We've seen them at the auto parts store, Dairy Queen, convenience store, bakery, grocery store, various restaurants, bus driving company, etc. Our travels to Homer and other communities show there's a shortage of workers in those towns, also.

Many of the job listings we've received recently are looking for people to start work immediately. Others are already looking for next winter. Look through them to see if one is the right job for you.

In between newsletters, you can find the newest job postings here.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Working RVer Tip

If the job got off to a bad start, you may want to do damage control. Minimize accusations, hostility, and defensiveness. In other words, take time to listen to what the other has to say. Think before you speak. Think before you act.

The Jerky Business that Lets You Be Location Independent

One location independent way to earn a living is to join me in Jerky Direct. Our training is specific, practical, and RVer tested.

Working RVer Tip

Keep a detailed journal log of where you lived, where you worked, and what you earned. Good records are the key to proper tox filing, planning to minimize tax, and to defending an audit. If you haven't been doing this, start today.

Earn Your Living with a Blog or Website

A blog or website is yet another way to earn a living without being tied to one location. Your blog can be about most anything. Picking a topic that you enjoy can make it seem more like fun than work. Still, you have to figure out a way to make money with it. If you'd like to see some examples of how of how others are going about it, see the case studies on SiteBuildIt!

Working RVer Tip

There is no such thing as "usual camp host duties." If you see that phrase and assume that you know what you will be expected to do, chances are good that you will be surprised.

What's an RV Site Worth?

If you are bartering -- trading your labor for a campsite -- the site has a value for tax purposes. Sources tend to agree that the value of the site is the fair market value. That's often defined as the regular or posted rate the campground owner charges customers for a similar site. That may or may not be the site's true value to you. This article points out some of the other things -- the practical things -- to consider, Read more.

Another Location Independent Business for RVers

Bob and I have been working with the Summit Group since 2005. People love the vanilla, cinnamon, and pepper, the old time remedies, and the natural skin care products - and that makes it easy to sell. It's extremely flexible. You do as much or as little as you want. And, you can work the business wherever your RV travels take you.
