Working at Adventureland Amusement Park … hourly pay, community discounts, a safe RV park, activities, and yearlong friends. Those benefits call Vicky and Terry back to their seasonal positions.

Season at Adventureland

We have worked at Adventureland Amusement Park in Altoona, IA for four seasons now, and will be returning next year for our fifth season.

Adventureland provides a safe and very nice campground for us to return to for 5+ months of the year, for which working campers pay a minimal amount for only two of those months. The campground provides a security staff, and while the park is open, monitors who comes in and out of the campground. The campground has laundry facilities and a recreation hall where we can play cards and various games or celebrate those special occasions.

We are paid an hourly rate for every hour worked.

Adventureland has a Welcome Dinner at the beginning of the season and a Farewell Dinner at the end of the season. There are many activities for us to participate in such as a day at the races at nearby Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino; a trip to The Mall of America; trips to baseball games in Minnesota and Iowa. We have a movie night at a nearby local theatre.

Upon arriving and attending orientation, we are all given a discount card to various businesses in the neighborhood that saves us dollars.

On various days during the season, we have a dippin' dot day; floats and ice cream sundae day; watermelon day all of which the park provides.

Adventureland is located in an area where doctors, shopping and, restaurants are conveniently accessible. Nearby downtown Des Moines has theatre, entertainment and the arts.

We all look forward to coming back each year to visit with the friends we have made here. We keep in touch with friends and visit during the off season.

Not many employers of working campers provide as much to their working campers, and we just wanted to take the time to show our appreciation.

Should you be interested in seasonal employment here give Gary Pardekooper a call at 1-800-532-1286, Ext. 262 or check out the website at www.adventurelandpark.com
