Workcamping With Children

by Sara
(Texas)

Are there work camp positions that allow children? I have two children -- a 3 year old and 5 year old. I will be full timing with them and will need to work -- something where they can be with me while I work. Anyone done this or know if it is possible? Thanks!

Working RVers With Young Children
by: Coleen, the RVing editor

Yes, it is possible to work camp or otherwise work while RVing with your children.

Here are some options that come to mind for working with young children in tow:

1. Look for a job at a children's camp. Enroll your children in the program so that they are cared for and entertained while you are at work.

2. Work from your RV. Depending on your skills, you might be a virtual assistant, sell things on e-bay, design websites, or make jewelry that you wholesale to vendors. Or, choose one of the literally hundreds of other home-based businesses suitable to run from an RV home.

3. Look for a job that requires that you complete certain duties, rather than one that requires set work hours.

Workamping with Kids
by: Heather Wickline

The best positions I have found for volunteer positions with kids is camp hosting and restroom cleaning. I have done both, with 3 kids, ages 3, 4, and 8 at the time, and was able to take them with me while I cleaned. State parks are very understanding when it comes to small kids.
