Work Wanted Resume: The Rolfes

by Roy Rolfe
(Portage, MI)

Looking for a winter home! We are a fairly young retired couple living full-time in our 35-ft diesel class A motorhome. Roy is 56 and I am 60. Roy has a pension and we have been full-timing for seven years. We recently had a family issue resolve that had been keeping us in our home state (Michigan) and are now looking for a new adventure. We have spent several winters in the southern states and our summers have been in Michigan (where the grandchildren are). We have four children between us and five grandchildren; the oldest one has traveled with us extensively.

Roy is a retired fire captain who naturally has significant driving skills; he has also driven straight truck for Roadway and has delivered motorhomes and vans, etc. He has had a CDL but it is not current; his driving record is flawless . He was a paramedic; therefore has excellent first aid and first responder skills. He has also taught hazardous materials courses for Michigan State University. He was at one time the training officer for the fire department; has managerial experience. He has experience with almost all phases of campground work including marina duties which includes launching and retrieving boats, cash-handling and whatever else arises where there are boats and people. He's also very handy at repair and maintenance of almost anything with a motor and has great problem-solving skills--he is not one to stand around and wring his hands when an unexpected situation arises!

I am a retired medical claims examiner who has experience working in an internists office (as Dr's assistant) as well as working in the Cardiac Evaluation Dept in a local hospital. Therefore, I have useful medical knowledge and experience with medical issues. I also have managerial experience. Also have experience working in campground office, making reservations, greeting and orienting guests and handling the many questions that arise in the course of the day. Sewing and other crafts (jewelry-m aking) are life-long hobbies and I do travel with my sewing /embroidery machine.

Together, we make a balanced team. Roy is a people person who can (and will) talk to anyone anytime about anything and is at ease with public speaking. Being in the spotlight is not a problem for him. He has a great knack for putting people at ease and managing people. He is the outgoing, friendly part of our team and I am the more reserved one. My forte is organization and getting things done! I'm computer literate and maintain a blog documenting our experiences. I'm the "support system" for my gregarious husband. We are non-smokers and in good health. We just celebrated our 25 anniversary so this is not an untested relationship.

We live in our 2000 Newmar Kountry Star and tow a Ford Ranger. Since we have been full-timing for a number of years, we are experienced in the logistics of traveling together, managing our mail and finances while on the road and dealing with any emergencies or unexpected situations on our own. KittyStar travels with us; she is a PixieBob cat who looks like a little bobcat, short tail and all. She is not at all brave and prefers to stay inside and watch the world go by.

We are completing our current Workamping situation soon and are looking toward the next one. We are in California at this time but would like to be a little closer to the Midwest US. References are available.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
