ABOUT ME ? I have a very special set of creative, technical and honey-do skills that make me the right camp host or camp worker for the right park. I don't have an RV (yet), but camp often. I love the outdoors and the whole RV life thing. I?m looking for the right relationship that will provide an on-site RV or cabin (at least until I get my own ? which is in the plan). Depending on which of my skills to elect to take advantage of any financial compensation above that is negotiable. I have a reliable late-model car and just about everything else I need. I am a single male (52 years old) ? friendly, honest, organized, creative, hard-working, fun-loving, in excellent health and I?m pretty well stocked up on common sense. I?m available just about anytime and anywhere. I?ve got the flexibility and freedom if you do. But I do like to be warm. Doesn?t have to be hot, mind you. I?m good down to about 40 degrees or so, but have no desire to see or experience heavy snowfall (grew up on the shores of Lake Erie ? Been there. Done that!). So here?s what you get, with me? (pick what you need, take ?em all or somewhere in between!)
CREATIVE SKILLS ? Over the past 30 years of entrepreneurialism I?ve also been a journalist and a marketing consultant. As a journalist I?ve been the editor of three local/regional magazines and on national publication. Without bothering to count I estimate I?ve written around a hundred articles, for dozens of publications and websites and edited hundreds more. I?ve written marketing copy for brochures, flyers, websites, products, companies, and individuals. And hosted several radio programs. I?ve also written and produced newspaper, radio, television and internet advertising. I?ve helped to write, produce and host two television programs on local cable TV. Today I prefer writing the creative and fun stuff over the business stuff. I currently write for my two blogs (see below) and my website. I also love history, documentaries and the art of storytelling. Here?s some creative stuff that might benefit your park.
1. Blogging about your park and drawing the camping community?s attention to your camping experience. (I can even set the blog up and maintain it - see TECH SKILLS below)
2. Writing articles and reviews about your camp and submit them to the proper news media, publications and websites to get you the exposure you need and increase your traffic.
3. Copywriting for your brochures, website and any other marketing materials.
4. Hold workshops for your campers on?
a. Editing, proofreading and creating an editorial voice
b. Editorial planning and brainstorming for writers and bloggers
c. Tech tools and resources for creative writers and editors
5.Do the voice-overs for you commercials, web audio and more.
TECHNICAL SKILLS ? When it comes to computers, I consider myself just about as tech-savvy as you can get without actually being a geek. I started using computers in 1975, worked for IBM for nearly a decade and have relied on them extensively for both business and pleasure over the past 30 years. I LOVE MY COMPUTER! (Boy, that did sound pretty geeky!) I?ve been speaking, training (workshops, seminars, bootcamps, teleclasses, group and personal coaching) and using technology in my own business from the start, so I can help your park become more computer savvy or help your campers with their technology needs as your Onsite Computer/Tech Guru. I?m not ?technically certified? in anything (although I was once upon a time), but I know how to do it, make it easy and show you how ? and when it comes to people that their computers I?ve found that?s all they want. I don?t do hardware repair and only minor system troubleshooting, but I conduct COMPUTER LOVE WORKSHOPS in the following areas that everyone from novice to experienced can benefit from:
1. Anything Wi-Fi, mobile broadband or internet access related ? at both the campground and in our patron?s mobile units.
2. Microsoft Word 2007 ? for writing, communication, documentation and design
3. Microsoft Outlook 2007 ? for organization and communication (calendar, address book, to do list and notes.)
4. iTunes ? iPods and iPhones (including configuring it to your mobile sound unit)
5. Windows Media Player (including configuring it to your mobile sound unit)
6. Virus Protection and Preventative System Maintenance for the Mobile Computer User
7. Setting up, maintaining and writing for your blog (includes taking video and using YouTube)
8. Social media (it?s all the buzz!) ? Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, ping.fm
9. Basic digital photography and picture sharing
10. Setting up and running your own Teleclasses for profit
11. Desktop Publishing 101 (creating and formatting flyers, brochures, booklets, forms and more)
12. Setting up PayPal, eBay, Craigslist and other online accounts to buy and sell online
13. Free-For-All ? ask me any computer question, I?ll tell you no lies!
HONEY-DO SKILLS ? Okay, no I?m not really a maintenance man, handyman, groundskeeper or any of that. But I have a shiny set of high-level honey-do skills that have stood the test of time. If you have the tools and equipment, I can do light grounds-keeping and just about anything dealing with maintaining or even enhancing your landscape. My 76-year-old dad has been a carpenter all of his life so I?ve learned to do minor repairs, trouble-shooting, woodworking, remodeling and even construction. I even participated in restoring a house originally built in 1921 (plumbing, electricity, HVAC, the works!) and last summer helped my dad remodel his house (painting, repairs and stuff) which was built in 1926. If your park is newer than that I think we can make it fit. By the way, I?m in excellent health (6?, 190 lbs) and work out on the regular, so I can handle just about anything manual labor-wise. I am sort of a neat-freak, so I don?t mind cleaning bathrooms, etc. (especially if I?m going to be using them!). I?ve been an entrepreneur for most of the past 30 years so I can handle office work, customer service, check in/out - - all no problem.
By the way, I love FUN, EXERCISE, the OUTDOORS, GAMES and getting others involved! ? I personally workout, bike, play a sport or do some kind of exercise at least 3 times a week. I love it when I can get others to join me. I can coordinate safe and effective workout activities for people of all ages (No, I?m not a certified trainer so I know my limitations). I?ve built my own regulation horseshoe pit and can build one for you. I can coordinate horseshoe and darts tournaments, hiking, walking, biking, hoops, volleyball, you pretty much name it! (can you say ?activities director??). Oh. One drawback? I?m a lousy swimmer ? but I can tell a really good joke or funny story! Like any self-respecting homo sapien male, I can also fire up a mean grill!
