by Mark Bass
(Bassett, VA)
The Bass' Work Camping Recreational Vehicle
Mark and I are presently volunteering at a Corp park in Bassett, Virginia. We have been here since mid-October, 2009 and are looking for a position for the summer of 2010. We have helped clear and maintain new and existing trails, built and hung bird houses and performed reception duties at the Visitor Center which include phones, greeting visitors, selling passes, mail, and using office machines such as a pamphlet folding machine, postage machine, copier and shredder. The following is a quick blurb about our backgrounds, skills and hobbies.
Mark was a US Marine for 6 years and then went into the automotive repair industry as an ASE Certified Master technician. He has owned his own auto repair business and managed dealer shops. Other lines of work Mark has worked in include teacher of auto repair at Universal Technical Institute, commercial building maintenance, fabricator of natural gas compressors, house remodeling, concrete work, radiator repair, air conditioning and he is HVAC certified. Mark can do basic plumbing, electrical and welding. Mark is very mechanically inclined and creative and in 24 years of marriage I've never seen anything he wasn't able to fix. Mark enjoys reading, wood working, hiking, taking pictures and continued remodeling on the RV. As for me, I spent most of my life in an office. I have been a secretary, a receptionist and a mainframe computer programmer/analyst. I work well with others, am friendly, organized, punctual and a quick learner. I will always do my best to get the jobs done to the best of my abilities. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, making stained glass, baking/cooking, hiking and taking pictures.
Mark and I have two children who have finished college and are working in their fields and we recently became first time grandparents.
