Lost Alaskan RV Park

by Albert
(Alpine, Texas)

The Lost Alaskan RV Park is in beautiful Alpine, Texas. It is located near Big Bend National Park and Davis Mountains State Park. We liked the area and park so much we decided to stay and work camp.

It is a friendly, clean and relaxing place to stay.

Winters are very mild and summers are a lot cooler than most of Texas due to the elevation.

Work camping here at Lost Alaskan RV Park is a pleasure. The work schedule is two days on and six days off. The managers and owner go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Work for couples includes one partner working the office, making reservations and greeting campers. The other partner guides campers to their sites and light cleaning of laundry room, rec room, and showers.

The Lost Alaskan RV Park (Continued)
by: Albert

The Lost Alaskan RV Park in Alpine, Texas, was named after its original owner who was a bush pilot and trapper from Alaska. He sold the park and the present owner took over.

My wife Christine and I are presently working at the park. Three years ago during the summer we came through the area and stayed a week at the park.

The following year we came back and stayed a month. We then decided to take up RVing full time. So we went back home and sold our home, invested in a motorhome, and came back to Alpine.

We were approached by the manager of the park about work camping so we gave it a try and we love it. We stay here in the spring, then go into Colorado and New Mexico for the summer. Return to Alpine in the fall, then travel to the Rio Grande Valley for the winter to visit family and friends.

The park itself has about 100 sites. 90% of them are pull throughs. The layout was well planned. It is well run by the managers and owner. Communication flows easily both ways. The facilities are immaculate. The showers, bathrooms and laundry room are spotless.

It is a pleasure to work in a well run, well kept park. All the comments we get from RVers are positive.
