Front Desk and Maintenance

by Zoe
(St. Mary, MT )

We are front desk and maintenance workers. We are in our 2nd summer working at the KOA at St. Mary, MT. We are right outside of the east entrance to Glacier National Park's Going to the Sun Road.

I work at the front desk checking in campers and taking reservations over the phone. I also oversee the gift store and restock items as needed.

James is outdoor maintenance, doing whatever is needed, including pool and hot tub, fire pits, grass mowing and fixing anything that breaks.

This is a large campground and we are just one of 4 workkamping couples. Glacier National Park is spectacular and we are all here because of the park.

KOA Jobs
by: Cindy Pehrson

How did you get with the KOA Campgrounds? My husband and I are thinking of workkamping. When we are on the road now we like to stay at KOAs. I noticed on their website that you can sign up for workkamping information so was wondering if that is how you learned about the KOA jobs.

Resume
by: Zoe

Our resume reflects all of our abilities and we add to it when we have experience in new areas.

When applying for a job, our cover letter addresses specific areas that the employer mentions.

This is our first work camping job so we have nothing to compare it to!

We will be working at a KOA in Albuquerque this winter.

We apply for front desk as a couple, also, instead of front desk and maintenance. We do not apply for any jobs that require us to clean bathrooms.

Please, Tell Us More

Hi Zoe,

When you work at other parks, do you and James most always look for the front desk and maintenance positions? Do you tailor your resume for these specific positions? Do you find there is a lot of variance from one park to the other, even though you have the same job title?
