Columbus KOA

Columbus KOA RV Sites

Dear hubby and I have been workampers at Columbus KOA in Columbus, TX for the past year. It is a great park. We just don't want to leave! The owners, Courtney & JT Traverse, live on site. They are the greatest people you could ever wish to work for.

Hubby and I work together two days on and six days off for FHU, laundry, propane, and store discounts, plus other perks here and there. No $$, but hey, there are plenty of hours in six days if one wanted an extra part time paying job.

The Columbus KOA is a great place to work...even in the heat of summer.

You Aasked for More Info on Columbus KOA

Hubby and I each work 9 am to 7 pm the same two days, and then we are off for six days on a rotating schedule with three other workamping couples in the park. My duties include reservations, registration, country store attendant, office, and restroom cleaning.

Some days we are very busy and others we have time to read or do some personal computing, etc. The owners let us go home for lunch as long as we can watch the office/store for customers from our site. We have a wireless phone so we are not stuck at the desk.

Hubby mows, does painting, and does electrical and plumbing maintenance as needed. He's great at carpentry and has made a picnic table, park bench, and hanging tree swing for the park.

It does get hot here in the summer, but the men often start work early when it's cool and leave the ladies to take care of registration in the evenings.

The owners live on-site and are always easily accessible. They like it best when we take initiative to get things done instead of having to make lists and nag about projects.

This park has about 53 sites, and we got our choice of site...under the trees for shade in summer. A pool and cabins are in the planning stage right now and will be up and running by next spring.

We highly recommend this park, the Columbus KOA, for workers who want a more relaxing lifestyle.
