Last week I received what was supposed to be a Help Wanted ad. They were seeking a property caretaking couple with a small RV to live on site, to do grounds, orchard, pool, and driveway maintenance. There was no salary. The kicker, though, is that the ad said they would charge for the site and utilities. You read that right. No pay. And, they were charging several hundred dollars for the RV space, plus you would need to pay for electricity, garbage service, phone, and satellite TV. Is there anyone out there who thinks this is a good deal for the RVer? If so, email me and let me know why you see it that way. Speaking of emails.... I owe many of you a personal reply. In last week's newsletter, I mentioned that there are alternatives to working in campgrounds and that if you wanted to make your living the way we do to email me and I'd be glad to give you details and help you get started. My timing was bad. Shortly after the newsletter went out, we took off for a few days vacation. I'm not sure if it was motel air or what, but I came down with a nasty cold. So, I was away from the computer most of the week. I have a backlog of emails to answer. I apologize for not getting you a prompt response. Answering emails and getting more info posted on the website are on the agenda for this afternoon and tomorrow. We've also had questions about the status of Mt. Redoubt, our local volcano. There's been internal rumbling, but no eruption. I think there's more media sensationalism than volcanic action. We do, however, truly appreciate your concern. I would love to travel in an RV and work as a massage therapist along the way. Has anyone seen anyone doing this? Or, know of anyone I could contact for more info? ~~ I answered in part: Yes, there are other RVers out there working as massage therapists. Another option is to work at destination RV resorts. Many of them have extensive activities programs and you may be able to work as part of that. Some have on-site shops and commercial services for their residents, including message therapists. A good source for more information is the Natural Healers website. There you can find info on message therapist certification and licensing requirements. ~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website. = = = = = Working RVer Tip It's Not Forever A short-term job isn't necessarily a life-time career.
