We have two already this month that welcome RVers with horses. Retail stores and service businesses are hiring for the almost-here holiday season, even if the economy isn't as rosy as in years past. This morning, I visited with an RVer whose wife is scheduled to start at Safeway this week. The local diner just added an extra hostess and is gearing up for a busy "black Friday" following Thanksgiving day. A local department store had flyers at the check-out lanes advertising for cashiers and department staff. Costco's website indicates that they are hiring. And, on it goes. We helped a friend work a craft show holiday bazaar this weekend. It was busy. Sales were good. People were buying practical items, along with brisk gift sales. One of you could work at the campground where you are living, in exchange for your RV site, utilities, and use of facilities. The other could work away from the campground. Together, you would then have double benefits – fewer living expenses and a paycheck. = = = = = Your Working While RVing Questions Answered Help Us Find Jobs ~~ Cheryl asks: I know I can subscribe to workampers magazine, etc., or go on line and subscribe to those organizations. We have paid for all those things and no jobs. I wanted to find a winter job for us, in the warmer states. How can we find jobs? Can you help? ~~ I answered in part: Well, first off, you know what does not work for you. It's important that you recognize what doesn't work so you don't put more time or money into that route. There are lots of free services you can use to help you find jobs. And, yes, we are one that can help. Above all, the advice I've been giving Workers On Wheels readers for years still stands: You'll most likely have the best job success if you are in the area you want to be in and you apply for work in person. ~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website. = = = = = Ways RVers Make Money Here’s a sampling of work RVers do to earn a living and pay for their travels. ~ Campground construction
= = = = = Your Working While RVing Questions Answered Searching For Jobs By Location ~~ An RVer asks: Is there a way to search for work in a location where we plan to stay for a couple of months? ~~ I answered in part: Use the search boxes that you find on this Work-For-RVers-And-Campers.com website. Enter the name of the state or general area where you want to work. The search results should come back showing the various job listings pages that include Help Wanted ads with openings in that state or area. Aside from our site, here are some ideas: You might also look at major companies that are located where you plan to stay. For example, if you check the UPS website, you can search for jobs with UPS by state or by entering a zip code. ~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website. = = = = = Working RVer Tip Spin Your Old Job Into a New One Think outside the box on how to turn your pre-fulltime RVing job or profession into something you can do on the road.
