Update From Your Work For RVers and Campers Newsletter Editor

It's mid-July and I just put on a pair of thick socks because my feet are cold. Working RVers often get to choose the part of the country that they live and work in. A lot of RVers are choosing Alaska this summer. I don't know how many of them are working while they are here, but the area is teeming with motorhomes, fifth-wheels, trailers, busses, and campers of all sorts. RVers may be traveling differently, and perhaps working more than before gas prices increased, but we are definitely on the go.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

P.S. Watkins is giving a $10 gift certificate to everyone who joins this month. The $39.95 membership lets you buy at wholesale prices, similar to a Costco membership. It also gives you your own Watkins "store" so you can make money selling the products.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Newbie Work Camping Questsons

~~ Mary writes: We're new to this work camping, so have lots of questions...
1. How do YOU find your next position?
2. What do you personally look for when applying for a position?
3. How long in advance do you try to plan work?

~~ I answered: Believe it or not, I didn't answer! Mary isn't asking for my answers, she's asking for yours. She'd like to hear from many of you. Would you please help out a fellow RVing couple by answering her questions?

~~ Answer Mary's questions.

Working RVer Tip

Make it easy for employers to reach you. Be sure to put your contact info on your resume and in Work Wanted ads you place. This seems basic, but it is sometimes the obvious things that we overlook. You don't need to include all of these, but it is good if you can include at least a couple: phone number, email address, mailing address, website URL where you have your resume posted, voice mail or message number, and FAX number. And, double check to make you have them listed correctly.

Working RVer Profile

RV Park Activity Directors Are Musicians and Entertainers

Bill and Mary Condry love playing music and making people laugh. And, that is the core of what they do in their daily work as RV park activity directors. They make friends. They entertain. "Most RVers love to have fun," comments Bill. "We try our best to keep them busy and enjoying themselves."

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.
