Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

"I don't want to have to say, 'I wish we would have.' I'll be able to tell him how we did it." That quote is from Rob Greer, in an interview I share in this issue. Rob's not retired. He didn't wait until his kids were raised and gone before he hit the road.

What about you? Will you be able to tell your grandkids what you did -- how you lived your dream? Or, will your stories be filled with "I wish" and "if only" as you lament what you didn't do?

Perhaps it is because it is almost Thanksgiving. But something in Mr. Greer's comment really hit home. I am so thankful that back in 1992, Bob and I dared to quit the "real" jobs we had, to sell our traditional house, and to head out for parts unknown in a very used travel trailer.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Interviews with Working RVers

RV Park Activity Directors Are Musicians and Entertainers

Bill and Mary Condry love playing music and making people laugh. And that is the core of what they do in their daily work as RV park activity directors. They make friends. They entertain. "Most RVers love to have fun," comments Bill. "We try our best to keep them busy and enjoying themselves."

When I interviewed the Condry’s, they were working as the activity directors at Indian Nation RV Park in Thackerville, OK. They arrived at the RV park as paying guests.

Successful Trade Show Vendors

I watch the presentation Mrs. Wheeler gives and listen to her sales pitch. Then I turn towards her husband and watch as he collects money and hands out the pre-packaged goods to the customers. "I do the work and he takes the money," she quips.

Family Bluegrass Band - Being On the Road with Three Teens

Mom, Dad, and three teens share a bus, a band, and a strong faith. They travel the USA playing bluegrass and gospel music. I interviewed them when we were snowbirds in southern Texas.

Unlike many of the musical groups entertaining at Valley campgrounds, the Greers are not semi-retired senior citizens. Rather, they are a growing family with three teenagers. Mom (Kathie), Dad (John Rob), two brothers (Tate and Jase), and a sister (Katie). They all sing and play musical instruments.

We visited with John Rob after the show. Hailing from Lebanon, Missouri, the family is now on the road full-time. "Someday, when I have his little one on my knee," John Rob says, nodding in the direction of his oldest son, "I don't want to have to say, 'I wish we would have.' I'll be able to tell him how we did it."
