Workers On Wheels: Work For RVers and Campers

Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

My comments about our store and having a sticks and bricks business generated some questions and resonated with others. Quite a few folks, whether full-time RVers or extended time RVers, have a permanent business location. Many Alaska businesses are seasonal -- river guides, halibut charters, tours, fishing camps, gift shops, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, outfitters, flightseeing operations, and lodges are some examples. And, it isn't just Alaska. Fishing resorts, ag operations, and construction companies in northern states often shut down for the winter. That frees up these business owners to go south for the winter.

It also works the other way around. Businesses operate in the south in the winter and then are free to travel in the summer. Think vendors and shop owners in Quartzite. Another example are Winter Texans with a booth at a flea market each year, the same market for the entire winter, set up inside a permanent building.

We've already had frost. A lot of local businesses have buttoned up the hatches for winters. Many of the RV parks look deserted, though a few stay open and have tenants all winter long.

If you have some spare time, drop us a note and let us know how your summer went.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Jobs at Lodges

Lodge jobs can keep many working RVers busy with varied seasonal positions. We had breakfast at a nearby lodge the other morning, and it struck me how many jobs they had there. Not only the number of people working, but the different types of jobs there were at that one roadhouse.
