Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Jello plans. Have you heard the expression, "We have Jello plans to …." when visiting with full-time RVers? If you say it yourself, you're probably already out there on the open road, experiencing the freedom that comes with not having a set itinerary. If you aren't familiar with the phrase, it means you have tentative plans, but like that wiggly dessert, they are not set hard and fast -- they may change.

Most all of our plans fall into that category. That flexibility is one of the things I like best about my life.

Again this week, we have a mix of traditional campground jobs and some that you may not expect. Besides the jobs featured below, be sure to visit the website to see all the additional postings.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Campground Job Warnings, Ratings, and Reports

We received some thoughtful comments regarding a page on the website for campground ratings or warnings. Your emails reaffirmed that when there is an unhappy campground work experience emotions run too hot for objectivity. If you have a positive campground job experience to share, please do!

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Jobs for Certified Teachers

~~ A future full-time RVer asks: I am a certified teacher (middle school) and am ready to hit the road as a work camper! Will being a teacher help me find jobs while traveling? Jobs such as the presentations given at campsites, or are those usually rangers?

~~ I answered in part: The presentations given at campgrounds are done by Interpretive Ranges. But, those rangers are apt to be seasonal hires or volunteers. For the National Park System, rangers in seasonal positions both develop and implement the programs. They teach the historical, cultural, and natural significance of the parks.

As a certified teacher, you may have taken first aid, lifesaving, and CPR classes. Those certifications are highly valuable.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Jobs for Tent Campers

~~ An RVer asks: I am interested in your thoughts of a "young" 57 year old tent camper working for the camping experience on the east coast.

~~ I answered in part: Look for work at campgrounds that have a tenting section. You can probably find out if they do or not by looking on their websites. Or, call and ask them.

Another factor here is just what kind of camping experience you want to have. I've seen tent campgrounds spring up for special events and then they are dismantled shortly thereafter. Some that come to mind are motorcycle rallies, rodeos, fairs, antique farm equipment shows, and renascence festivals.

Positive RVing Attitudes

Life begets life. Energy creates energy. It is by spending oneself that one becomes rich. ~ Sarah Berhhardt

Life is too short to be spent in a constant struggle separating the good from the bad; there is barely enough time to separate the excellent from the merely good. ~ Quentin Crisp
