Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Have you noticed all the "Back to School" ads in the newspapers? That means the positions now held by teachers, college students, and high-school kids will soon be open. Those that are seasonal positions may have only a couple weeks or months left, making them perfect for RVers. And, even those that aren't seasonal may be good for RVers as they may be in industries where high turnover is the norm.

For those of you following the saga of my jaw…last Friday's appointment with the surgeon was very positive. It looks like there is new bone growth. We still have a long way to go, but I believe we are on the right track and that it is much improved.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip

Most people have never heard the term "work camping." So if you want to work in exchange for a place to park your RV, you might ask if they could use a volunteer and discuss what you could do to help them, and then ask if they would have a place for you to park. If you are self-contained, be sure to say so, explaining that you don't need water, sewer, or electric hook-ups. Of course if your RV isn't self-contained, then it won't be as easy to find positions, but they are available at all sorts of places. Again, most people have no idea what a "work camper" is so if you explain it in common, every day terms and give clear indications of what you can do and what you would want in return, it will open opportunities for you.

Working RVer Tip

Make your own assessments. Check things out for yourself. On a social media group, someone recently asked about working at a particular campground. Several people chimed in reporting cautions and negative things they'd heard about the campground. However, it seems not one of them had ever stayed there as a camper, let alone worked there. Fortunately the person who originally asked about the park, went ahead and checked things out for herself. She then reported back that she had taken the job and was happy with it. She had good things to say about the park and the job. If you listen to people give dire warnings and bad mouth an employer based on hearsay, you may miss out on positions that are right for you.

Positive RVing Attitudes

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will. ~ Vince Lombardi

Some things you have to do every day. Eating seven apples on Saturday night instead of one a day just isn't going to get the job done. ~ Jim Rohn
