Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

The workamper openings for this summer have really been coming in heavy this past week or so. RVers who committed months (sometimes years!) ago from afar are now changing plans. As campground owners hear cancellation after cancellation, they are again advertising for workers. If you are among those who feel best having a position lined up before you reach your destination, now is the time to be making contacts for summer 2012 campground jobs.

And, if you are among those who refuse to commit before you actually see the campground and meet the people you'd be working with, I wouldn't worry. There will still be openings come April, May, and June, as well as throughout the summer.

I wasn't planning to announce this to the world, but the news is too good not to share... My biopsies came back showing it is not cancer and the infection has not spread from my jaw to my neck! We still have more surgeries and who knows what all ahead, but this sure makes being optimistic a whole lot easier.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Working RVer Tip

State parks offer many volunteer opportunities in addition to camp hosting. Check the state park websites to find out more about what is available. Projects range from kite flying events to toad calling, teaching kids how to fish to restoring buildings. If you'd like to help with some of those other projects, inquire about them. You may be able to arrange free camping while working on them.

Working RV Profile

Still Working Fulltime But Living in Our RV

~ from Lee Thomas

Like many US residents, I got caught in the down market of the first decade of 2000. Having lost my job, I took a contract in another state, living in my RV. Our house sold while I was working that contract, which was good/bad news. Good news in that it sold, bad news in that we lost a lot of money on it.

My wife and I made the decision then not to own another house (this had happened to us before) and just to reside in our RV, which allowed us to go wherever work was available. We upgraded our RV from a small Class C to a 40' Class A. I then got offered a permanent position with Dell, in Texas.

The Adventures, Travels, and Tribulations of a Bonkers Blond Blogger

~ from Kernut the Blond

After reading the recent article about other 40-something full-time RVers, I was moved to tell my story. Last summer I bought my first ever RV (a 29' Class A), and immediately became a full-timer. It's turned out to be the best thing I ever did. I'm a single female, and travel with just my cat. (I'm trying to teach her to read maps, but haven't had luck as of yet.)

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.
