Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

I did something this past week that I haven't done for a couple of years: set an alarm clock. Not only did I set it, but actually got out of bed when it rang at 6:30 a.m. I have jury duty month. It is an exercise in waiting. And, in having someone else control my time. It makes me all the more appreciative of my self-employment that allows me flexibility in how I schedule my workdays.

To all of you who have been responding positively to our website changes: Thank you! I'm grateful for your compliments and words of appreciation.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Working RVer Tip

Volunteering can lead to paid employment with the same agency. Mary and Harold volunteered at an Oklahoma state park last summer. This summer, they returned, with Harold receiving pay and Mary continuing to volunteer part-time. She recently emailed to tell me that they are both now on the payroll. The RVer who had the paid position left mid-season, and since Mary was there and already familiar with the park, she was a natural to take over those paid hours.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

~~ An RVer asks: My pets are part of my family and I don't intend to leave them behind. I have three extra large pet dogs that will be with me. Will this be a problem getting a position? How do other RVers who have dogs, or cats or other animals for that matter, deal with this?

~~ I answered in part: It could be. Some parks don't allow pets. Some don't allow dogs over a certain size. And, some limit the number of pets you can have.

~~ Read the longer version of my answer -- and add your comments -- on the website.

Help Wanted Ads Publication

If you are looking for a publication that lists page upon page of Help Wanted ads, I recommend The Caretaker Gazette. It is available both as an online publication and a printed on paper magazine. You'll find jobs at campgrounds listed in it, as well as for various other caretaking positions, such as jobs at resorts, on farms, and doing personal care. I do not write or publish The Caretaker Gazette; when you order, I forward it on to the publisher and he then fills your request.

~~ Order The Caretaker Gazette (or learn more about it) from our website.

Submitting an Employer Profile (Help Wanted Ad)

Employers -- campground owners, owners of seasonal businesses, companies that hire mobile or short term workers, volunteer coordinators -- here's how to get the word out to RVers. If you are looking for how and where to submit your Help Wanted ad, here's the scoop: simply email me your information.

You'll get a full page on your business and what you have to offer RVers in the way of jobs and volunteer positions. Include plenty of details, so RVers get a good idea of the job, your work environment, and your community. Send a picture. You don't need to worry about writing it up in perfect form -- just get me the information and I can edit it for you.

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.
