Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

We are back in Alaska. Besides working on the websites and newsletters, and continuing with our Watkins business, our summer work here includes tending to our second hand store.

Speaking of Watkins…. Did you know that it only takes $40 to get started as an Independent Watkins associate? Our field executives simplified our Watkins Summit Group business website, and made some excellent changes to it. You just may want to take a look and see if it is something you'd like to try. You'll find all sorts of info there. You can check it out without giving your name or email address. (Independent Watkins Associate ID #362289)

Working RVer Tip

Desperation shows in your job search and makes it more difficult to find employment. An article in the June 2011 AARP Bulletin confirmed what I've been saying for years. It is easier to find a job if you already have one. The reasons they give are that employers think out of work people may have been fired due to poor performance and that they may have outdated job skills and contacts. Those who are already working are perceived as being more valuable and more highly skilled.

Campground Pay Rates - You're Competing with High School Kids for These Jobs

As one campground owner so tersely put it, "Why should I pay a workamper couple an hourly wage, give them an RV site that I could otherwise rent out, and absorb the costs of the utilities they use, when I can get a sixteen year old from town to do just as good a job, and I only have to pay them the minimum hourly wage?"

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Where Do RVing Musicians Find One Another

~~ One of our website visitors, Linda L. writes: I am considering full time and am an entertainer, musician, and singer. Where and how would I find other entertainers that may be interested in forming a group? I have seen some ads, but I would like to run an article or ad, something to find and talk to others considering the same thing or who already full time and may consider me.

~~ I answered in part: The destination RV parks in the southern states would be good places to start. The parks often have jam sessions where musicians get together. They are a good source of networking, as well show casing your talents.

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.
