Apply Early? Maybe, But Not Too Far in Advance

"Apply early" doesn't mean a year in advance. Getting your resume in early may have benefits. But, don't go overboard, applying so soon that your job application is lost or completely rejected.

Here's the official word from the Volunteer Coordinator for Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge: "Positions are competitive and fill early, so if you're interested in volunteering for the summer of 2012, please get your applications in early. We will begin accepting applications in August of 2011 for the summer of 2012."

Note that she stresses "early." But, then she defines that. If summer positions start in May, she's saying apply no more than nine months before the start date.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Campground Management School

~~ Gregg T. asks: Do you know if the National School of RV Park & Campground Management is the best school campground management school? Have you heard reviews from people that have taken the two 50 hour courses?

~~ I answered in part: Have you looked at the resources listed on the National Associate of RV Parks and Campgrounds' (ARVC) education page?

It seems many campground managers are (or were) RVers who started working at campgrounds in other positions. With experience, they worked their way up to be managers.

Watkins Bus. Info

Part of our income comes from my being an Independent Watkins Associate (ID #362289). You could be one, too.

Our team works together because we can do more that way than if we each work alone. This week, teammate Stacy is handling requests for info about the business.

Working RVer Tip

In Get Organized Now! Newsletter For Professional Organizers, professional organizer Maria Gracia recommends that you never accept an organizing job without first seeing the rooms or areas that need to be organized. When trying to decide just how much is involved with the job, she says, "Don't take somebody's word for it." That's true for many service jobs.

Working RVer Tip

Develop your co-workers into allies. You don't need to be close friends. You don't need to have the same world views. But, your workday will be much better if you get along and work for the good of the business (or agency) together.

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.
