Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Contrary to what you may have read on other forums, it is NOT too late to find a good campground job for this coming season. Many campgrounds and RV parks are hiring now for positions that start immediately and next month, as well as in November and December. See below for examples. The full details are on the website.

Fall is officially here and our weather in Alaska is warmer and sunnier this month than it was all summer. These gorgeous days, though, are followed by frosty nights.

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Mobile RV Cleaning Business

~~ Burle B writes: The main reason for contacting you is to ask your opinion about the potential of starting a mobile RV cleaning service. I'm just beginning to explore this potential business opportunity that could help me save up cash for my first RV.

~~ I answered in part: I think there is real potential for an RV cleaning service. Many RVers are older and not able to do the reaching and bending required to give their RVs a good house cleaning.

Working RVer Tip

When reading online, many people never get past the first few lines, so it makes sense to put the most important things first in your resume. Do you think an employer hires you because of your name? If so, put it at the top of your online resume, centered and in bold print. If you think employers are more interested in what you can do for their business, then put that information in a prominent place instead.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Deducting Depreciation on Your RV

~~ Ed asks: Can I claim depreciation on a recreational vehicle if the employer requires one for me to work for him?

~~ I answered in part: If you have another home in addition to your RV, you can usually deduct things that you cannot legally deduct if you are a true full-time RVer with no other home.

Working RVer Tip

When asking for a raise, focus on what you deserve, rather than on what you need. It's not up to your employer to see that you have gas money to get to your next assignment or that you can make your RV payment -- those are personal responsibility issues. Instead, focus on how you have helped the campground or whatever business you are working for.

Working RVer Tip

If your Work Wanted Ad or resume includes the word "inexperienced," rewrite it so that that word is not there. When a campground owner draws up his business plan, it does not include, "Give inexperienced people jobs so they can live their dreams."

Welcome!

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.

If you have questions, we're always happy to help. Simply submit them here....
