RVers Share Their Dream Jobs

In last week's newsletter, I asked you to post your dream jobs. Thanks to those who did -- and to those who replied with helpful suggestions.

What struck me the most is that the dream jobs are realistic to achieve. I thought they'd be far-fetched, way out there dreams, with wild expectations. But -- and employers, take note -- what RVers are asking for are things such as the boss noticing progress and quality work.

~~ Read more about them on the website.

We are "Sole Ambassadors" for the shoe charity, Soles4Souls. We live and travel full time in our 34 foot motor home, distributing free shoes to people in need across the US. We go to group homes for abused children, homeless shelters, and even the Association for Torture Survivors.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Cell Phone Internet Service

~~ Larry asks: I need a good cell phone and Internet service provider. I will be travelling the US and most probably will be in remote areas. Whom do you suggest using for cellular service and an Internet provider?

~~ I answered in part: We use ACS (Alaska Communications Systems) and we are generally happy with it. We are home-based in Alaska, so that was a factor in our choice. Though, the service has worked well on our trips to the lower 48.

Readers, what cell phone company and Internet service do you recommend?

~~ Share your experience and post your comments on the website.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Wages for Activity Director

~~ Frank, a full-time RVer asks: Do you have any information regarding wages paid to activities directors in south Texas RV parks? We have been offered a position and concerned that we are not being compensated adequately.

~~ I answered in part: Although the activity director position has more responsibility and requires more skills than general cleaning or camp hosting, it is also a more prestigious and desirable position.

As activity directors, you may be able to get complimentary passes to a variety of area attractions. Some areas have an official program where they give a pass to key staff working at tourist attractions and services that cater to tourists.

~~ Read the longer version of my answer -- and add your comments -- on the website.

Working RVer Tip

You can disagree with your supervisor. That doesn't change the fact that he still calls the shots on the job. However, when he sees you willingly doing what he's asked you to do, the way he's asked you to do it, and doing it well, even though you disagree with it, it increases his respect for you.

Welcome!

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.

If you have questions, we're always happy to help. Simply submit them here....
