Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

We spent this past week in the little community of Hope, AK. Bob did some salmon fishing and went through the Hope Sunrise Museum. We checked out the tourist shops and ate at every restaurant in town. We visited with tourists and local business owners. We took pictures -- and more pictures. I'm in the process of converting my notes into articles and getting some of those pictures posted to the websites. Along with this, we spread the word about our business as Independent Watkins Associates.

Dream jobs? For sure. RVing gives us the freedom to create work that we love doing.

What is YOUR dream job?

~~ Tell us about the work that is -- or would be -- ideal for you. And, read what other RVers have to say.

~ My dream job is....

Wherever you are in your work and travels, we wish you joy and prosperity,

Coleen

Working RVer Tip

Support the campgrounds, RV parks, and other businesses that treat their working-while-RVing staff well. It is one way we can say, "Thanks," for being fair and considerate to our fellow RVers. Besides, if they treat their employees and volunteers right, they likely also treat their customers right.

Working RV Profile

Hit The Road Jack on a Wing and a Prayer

~ by Kimberly & Jerry Peterson

They said it couldn't be done...not without a steady income...not without a HUGE nest egg...not without an RV. But, after over five years of full-timing, we have proved them all wrong. Not only are we living this lifestyle, we are having the time of our lives and enjoying every mile.

We are freelance writers, photographers, entrepreneurs, and Jack-of-all-trades. Just because we have not done it, doesn't mean we can't do it. We adapt to all of the positions we have been doing while living our dream. At the same time, we are having a blast and the time of our lives.

~~ See pictures of the Petersons at work and enjoying full-time RVing, and read more about them, on the website.

Working RVer Tip

For many jobs, skills you learn while volunteering are just as important as those you learn from formal education programs or paid employment.

Volunteer Pages On Work-For-RVers-And-Campers.com

We've heard from some RVers who would like more information on volunteering with non-profit, charitable organizations and with government agencies. We do have some info on the site. And, if you are the volunteer coordinator or if you have a volunteer experience to share, please send in the information.

Volunteering Saves Money and Yields Many Rewards

Volunteering can be a fun way to spend your time while you save your money. RVing volunteers frequently receive an RV site and other benefits while helping out their favorite causes. They also get to see some beautiful parts of the country and have some great experiences. It's a win-win situation, for both the non-profit organization and the workamper.

~~ Read the rest of this article on the website. It will also lead you to pages on specific organizations seeking your help.

Working RVer Tip

Be honest. That doesn't mean to bear your sole and tell all. It simply means, "do not lie."

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

Fitness Work

~~ Joyce asks: I am a certified yoga, Pilates, and Zumba instructor. Is there work out there for fulltime RVers teaching fitness, workout, dance, or exercise classes? Do campgrounds need fitness instructors?

~~ I answered in part: I wasn't familiar with Zumba, so I Googled it to find out a little about it. It sounds like it would be a fun thing that would go over well at resorts. While I may be the only one who hadn't heard of that particular kind of fitness dance program with Latin rhythms, my guess is that many others haven't either. It could be that campground owners would welcome it as something new to offer their guests -- if you educated them about what it is and why it is beneficial.

~~ Read the longer version of my answer -- and add your comments -- on the website.

Earning a Living with a Website

If you want to earn money from a website or an online business, I recommend SBI! as a website host and a suite of web building and promotions tools. Compare it with others to see how it stacks up against them.

Volunteer Organization Profile

Santiago Event Center

~ from Santiago Event Center staff

Santiago Event Center is a Catholic-Christian center for retreats, conferences, family gatherings, and events. We also have an RV park campground. With all of this, with social, athletic, and recreational activities, we provide a place for you to get closer to God, your family, and your neighbors.

Work we have for working RVers includes general campground maintenance, construction and building projects, electrical and plumbing, and other skilled trade type work.

~~ Read more about this, and see a picture, on the website.

Working RVer Tip

It is often easier to get a job when you already have a job. That's one reason you may want to accept and do well at a job you consider to be a not-so-great one.

Welcome!

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.

We are also thankful for SBI!, the "do-all-the-techy-stuff-for-you" e-business building platform that made creating this RV resource site possible.
