We hope you are enjoying a wonderful -- and safe -- Independence Day Weekend. We are fortunate to live in the United States of America, home of the free and the brave. Congratulations, too, to our Canadian readers who celebrated Canada Day on July 1. I understand that Canada Day is akin to our Independence Day. When the employer has several qualified applicants, the deciding factor as to which gets the job offer may come down to which one was the easiest to contact. = = = = = Your Working While RVing Questions Answered Volunteer Jobs for Senior Fish Lover ~~ Brenda asks about fishing: Were any of the volunteers senior females and what type of work did they do? ~~ I answered in part: We visited the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum in Biloxi, Mississippi, when they were demonstrating how to use cast nets. The presentation was to a group of children; I believe those participating in their Sea and Sail Adventure Camp program. The program includes a variety of other fishing and seafood catching related activities, as well. ~~ Read the longer version of my answer -- and add your comments -- on the website. ~ Volunteer Jobs for Fish Lovers = = = = = Working RVer Tip Dress for success. That doesn't necessarily mean wearing a suit. It means wearing the type of clothing someone successfully doing the job you are interviewing for is likely to wear. This includes your footwear. = = = = = Earning a Living with a Website It's easy enough to throw up a website or blog on some free hosting site. But, how do you make any money from it? You need traffic -- website visitors. For that, you need the search engines to list your site and to rank it highly. It helps to have your website pages set up right. It also helps to have inbound links. A niche, a site blueprint, keywords, meta tags, HTML, content, link exchanges, affiliate programs…. If you don't know how to do all that, it helps to have a program that automatically does a lot of it for you. ~~ Read more on the website = = = = = Working RVer Tip It is usually not helpful to advertise that you are desperate for a job. = = = = = Your Working While RVing Questions Answered When You Don't Make the A List ~~ KC asks: If someone goes to the trouble of putting something in your letter about a position and will not provide you with additional information about the job so you can make a decision about working for this group or person, you have to wonder what they are trying to hide. Why bother to place an ad if you not willing to provide the information that is requested? ~~ I answered, but Dennis gave a better answer. ~~ Dennis' answer in part: Potential employers probably received a lot of applications to choose from, so they will not take the time to answer questions from any applicants until they start the interview-selection process. In this case, you may not have made it to the final selection process and will never hear from the employer again. I also tend to want to have all my questions answered before I spend valuable time applying for jobs. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and I also think that employer's should take the time to answer all my questions since I took the time to apply. However, in today's job market I can assure you that employer's do not feel the same way. ~~ Read the full replies -- and add your comments -- on the website. = = = = = Ways RVers Make Money Here's a sampling of work RVers can do to cut their expenses, earn a living, and pay for their travels. ~ Fund raiser for charitable organization
= = = = = Watkins Bus. Info Part of our income comes from my being an Independent Watkins Associate (ID #362289). You could be one, too. ~ Buy or Sell Watkins Products ~ Use and Tell Team Building Method = = = = = Your Working While RVing Questions Answered Organizing Work by State and Marking Those with Hourly Pay ~~ Working RVer Fred Day asks: Would it be possible to list the want ads by state and also if pay per hour is offered? I am on a fixed income like most, and look for paying jobs plus camp site. I also tend to stay in certain states. Thank you. ~~ I answered in part: Would it help if each Help Wanted started with the state name or state abbreviation? You'd still need to scan through the list, but those in areas where you want to work should stand out. You could also do a "find" for the state. That would take you to those you are interested in, one after the other. It would skip those positions in other states. About marking which positions pay an hourly wage, I have another question for you. Do you mean those positions that pay for all hours worked? Or, would you mark those that have, or may have, some work time paid at an hourly rate, along with some hours worked for the RV site? ~~ Be sure to add your comments and suggestions on the website. ~ Listing Jobs by State and Pay = = = = = Working RVer Tip If you only check your email once every few days or less, you may be better off not putting an email address in your Work Wanted ad, on your resume, and on your job application. = = = = = Employer Profile Circle Pines KOA ~~ Working RVer Lucky writes: Circle Pines KOA in Williams, AZ. Serving as workampers, we have been fortunate to have been a part of this excellent organization. This park is nestled in the pines along Interstate 40, approximately four miles from the town or village of Williams, AZ. We commend the exceptional service and compassion of the owners and staff of Circle Pines KOA. Also, for their ability to provide quality entertainment, horse back riding, and other quality activities for children, as well as adults. Though the altitude sometimes slows the young at heart it is an wonderful place to visit and work. ~~ Read more about this on the website -- and add your comments. Submit a campground/RV park or other business employer profile. = = = = = Working RVer Tip Employees of companies with stores in multiple areas may be able to easily transfer from one to another. If you are required to work a certain number of hours before benefits such as health insurance kick in, the time worked in one store may apply to that at the new location. = = = = = Positive RVing Attitudes It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it. ~ Lena Horne Remember that nothing important was ever achieved without someone's taking a chance. ~ Author Unknown = = = = = If you like this e-zine, please do a friend a big favor and pass it forward.
