Update from Your RV Workers On Wheels Newsletter Editor

Gosh, it's been a busy week putting up and taking down job listings. It seems I barely get the Help Wanted ad on the website and I get an email from the employer saying the position is filled. It's great to have all this activity happening.

Be sure to tell your friends about the services we provide. Remember to mention that there is no subscription fee.

Your Working While RVing Questions Answered

RV Snowbirding Winter Positions

~~ Larry asks: Have question pertaining to all those good snowbirds out there. Most RV workcamping jobs listed are from May to October. There should be listings that would be from October to April, per say. It would be something for the snowbirds to ponder. I myself may be interested in doing so.

~~ I answered in part: I think the reason you aren't seeing many of those ads is because of the time of year.

Parks looking for help for this winter season have most of their help in place. It is a bit early for them to be advertising for next winter.

With the snowbirds at their winter destinations, the park managers often fill immediate needs with folks already there, rather than to advertise.

Working RVer Tip

You can advertise your skills by letting people see you at work. If you are a seamstress, hem a pair of pants while sitting outside under your awning where RVers walking by can see you. If you do RV detailing, let your neighbors see you polishing your motorhome.

Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge and Campground

by John Powell

Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge and Campground is a motorcycle resort located in Stecoah, NC. We are a smaller niche oriented resort with lots of workamper and guest amenities.

We are in western North Carolina, connected to the Smoky Mountains.

We have a 39-acre resort, large activities pavilion, cabin rooms, full modern and new cabins, RV sites for workampers and guest, tent camping. There's a full restaurant on the premises, which serves breakfast and dinner.

We have campfires every night along side of a rushing trout stream. The grounds are well maintained, lighted, and safe. Our roads are newly paved and easy access to major highways in the area.

Working RVer Tip

Once again, I'm hearing from employers who have seen an RVer's resume and want to talk to them about a job. But, the RVer did not include any contact information. If your resume is missing from the website, or if you aren't getting responses, it could be because you didn't include your phone number or email address or postal mail address.

New Favorite Work Camper Campground Nominee

Playa Del Rio RV Resort

From by Lynn Ditto

Playa Del Rio is a charming 30 unit park located west of Pensacola, Florida, on Perdido Key barrier island. The manager, Bonnie, is great and takes good care of the guests. The beach is very close, and the dock, at the rear of the park, is very relaxing. Vicki and I visited there in '07 and workamped there in '09.

Favorite Work Camper Campground Nominee -- Mystery State Park Revealed

Lowden State Park

Last week an RVer recommended a state park, but forgot to tell us which one. We had a bit of fun with this mystery.

by Ralph Stukenberg

We got our start in Illinois at a state park that has a big statue, has about 80 electric sites, and tent sites. At most any given time it is usually full on week-ends. Most of the campers are locals, but many also are from many miles from the area.

The staff people are very nice. There is a very nice town close by with many stores to make everyone feel we/come.

We hosted there for four years and really did not want to leave. But, our dream was to travel, and to see other parts of the USA.

We are hoping to return to that park in spring of 2011.

We started this site after corresponding with thousands of RVers, sharing what we’ve learned from our personal experience as full-time RVers, as well as what we've gleaned from employers and managers who hire and work with work campers and other RV workers.

We do hope we've been instrumental in helping you find the right work situation for your RV lifestyle.

We believe there are many advantages to having an RV home based business that we can take on the road with us. We've found a Watkins Summit Group business works for us.
