Bob and I are headed off to a Caribbean Cruise. This is not just any cruise, but the Grand Prize Getaway from Watkins' annual Performance Reward Program. The trip this year is a Caribbean Cruise on the Royal Caribbean's cruise ship Navigator of the Seas. We will be in port at Cozumel and Belize City. The prize includes round trip air fare between Kenai, Alaska, and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Instead of extensive advertising on TV or in magazines as you see with many companies, Watkins promotes by rewarding us, the Independent Associates. You may remember that we also earned the Grand Prize last year, an all expense paid trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Yes, I am a firm believer in the benefits of being a Watkins associate, especially a member of the Summit Group, with its dedicated business building program. Prospective employers don't need the details about the intelligence of your grandbabies or the cuteness of your dog. They do need to know why they should hire you. = = = = = New Pages On Work-For-RVers-And-Campers.com Employment Taxes -- The IRS Warns It Intends To Collect From Small Businesses Employers who pay employees cash under the table or who call their employees "independent contractors" to avoid paying employment taxes may soon be under stricter scrutiny. This is according to a press release from the National Federation of Independent Business Small Business Legal Center. The news release states that the head of the U.S. Justice Department's Tax Division has warned a group of tax attorneys that the IRS and DOJ will aggressively pursue unpaid employment taxes. The news release indicates the DOJ and IRS will be going after employees using unsophisticated schemes that make them easy targets for enforcement. So, in addition to civil methods to recover unpaid employment taxes, there may be criminal enforcement as well. Read the rest of this article on the website. Taxes and how they relate to working and volunteering RVers is proving to be a popular topic among our readers. = = = = = Your Working While RVing Questions Answered Vehicle Age Restrictions ~~ An RVer asks: What's wrong with older RV's? I recently acquired a '77, 26' Swinger. The previous owner took very good care of this vehicle. Outside of the typical 70's motif, it looks and runs great. Surprisingly enough, everything works and it doesn't leak oil. Am I to assume I cannot find a workamper job or am very limited because of the vehicle's age? ~~ I answered in part: No. The age of the recreational vehicle should have little (or nothing) to do with your ability to find a job. We have a poll on the website asking our readers if they have ever been turned down for a job because of the age of their RV. As I write this, only about 10 percent indicated they had been. ~~ Read the longer version of my answer on the website. ~ Recreational Vehicle Age Restrictions = = = = = Working RVer Tip Play It Save With a Trial Run If you are getting ready to start full-time RVing and working on the road, you might do a test run with a position close to your present home. If you are uncertain about how things will go, this gives you a chance to get some full-time RV living experience, without the unknowns of a new area, such as finding an RV dealer for last minute modifications. = = = = = Positive RVing Attitudes Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted. ~ Aldous Huxley If you don't run your own life, somebody else will. ~ John Atkinson = = = = = If you like this e-zine, please do a friend a big favor and pass it forward.
